The Break-Up
Carolyn was the one who referred me to the dentist I've been seeing and apparently the dentist is getting enough business from me to send Carolyn an AMC Movie Theater Gift Card with over 30$ on it. We used it Friday night to see the movie The Break-Up. Granted, 30$ really isn't much at the movie theater these days, but it was enough for two tickets and a bottle of water.
The Break-Up (IMDB) stars Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn as a couple living together in Chicago. After getting in a big argument the 'break-up', both refusing to move out of the condo the shared the cost of purchasing. The situation quickly degenerates into a series of battles with both sides pushing the other farther and farther away with blatant disrespect, petty jealousy and downright cruelty. (Spoiler Alert) The movie ends on a harsh note as, unexpectedly, they do not get back together but just as one makes a life altering change for the other, they confess that they have lost all of there feelings for them. It was really sad.
This is one of the few movies that leaves you going 'Wow, that felt real.' Not in the traditional hollywood manor, but in the sense that the movie's two main characters and friends are dealing with a very emotional situation. The plot didn't feel rushed or subdued to completely the absurd (with one exception -- a strip poker party). The characters were well developed and you connected with them in a very real way.
Go see it, it was worth the free ticket.
